IEEE P3220.02 Blockchain Storage Standard Finalized Led by CESS Network

The IEEE P3220.02 Standard for Blockchain-Based Decentralized Storage Protocols has been finalized and submitted for review, with CESS Network playing a key role in its development.

On September 1, 2025, the IEEE P3220.02 Standard for Blockchain-Based Decentralized Storage Protocols was officially finalized and submitted for review. This milestone was achieved during a working group meeting hosted by CESS Network and IEEE, with over 50 experts from 19 global institutions participating. Notable contributors included organizations such as State Grid Corporation of China, Southern Grid, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and others.

CESS Network, a decentralized data infrastructure provider, played a leading role in the development of the standard. The company contributed significantly to the design of the technical framework, compliance requirements, and application scenarios, aiming to enhance the verifiability, compliance, and applicability of decentralized storage technologies. The finalized standard provides a unified reference for adoption across sectors like AI, Web3, Real World Assets (RWA), and enterprise applications. This submission is seen as a crucial step toward the international standardization of decentralized storage, paving the way for compliant deployment and large-scale application globally.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the organization behind this initiative, is a global leader in technological innovation. Founded in 1963 through the merger of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers and the Institute of Radio Engineers, IEEE is now a network of over 486,000 members in 190 countries. Its primary mission is to foster technological excellence for the benefit of humanity. With headquarters in New York City and Piscataway, New Jersey, IEEE is instrumental in setting international standards across various technological domains.

This development aligns with broader trends in blockchain and decentralized technologies, reflecting the increasing importance of standards in ensuring interoperability and compliance in emerging tech sectors.
