Yunfeng Financial Appoints Former Fosun Co-Founder Liang Xinjun as Independent Director

Hong Kong-listed Yunfeng Financial Group appointed Liang Xinjun, co-founder of Fosun Group, as independent non-executive director effective September 5.

Yunfeng Financial Group Limited (376.HK), a Hong Kong-listed fintech platform, announced the appointment of Liang Xinjun as independent non-executive director effective September 5. The company has backing from major shareholders including Yunfeng Financial Holdings and MassMutual, one of America's top five life insurers .

Liang brings extensive experience from his role as co-founder of Fosun International, where he served as executive director, vice chairman and CEO from August 2005 to March 2017 . The 56-year-old entrepreneur currently serves as chairman and CEO of XIN Family Office, his Singapore-based family office that he established after leaving Fosun in 2017 due to health reasons . Forbes recognizes Liang as a billionaire alongside his former Fosun co-founder Guo Guangchang .

The executive has built significant expertise in Web3 blockchain, artificial intelligence and metaverse sectors through his investment activities . His Singapore-based XIN Family Office has been active in these emerging technology areas since its establishment approximately three years ago . This background aligns with Yunfeng Financial's recent strategic pivot toward digital assets and blockchain technology.

The appointment comes as Yunfeng Financial pursues an aggressive Web3 strategy. Just days before announcing Liang's appointment, the company revealed it had purchased 10,000 ether tokens worth $44 million using internal cash reserves . The purchase represents part of Yunfeng's broader plan to embrace blockchain technology and build what it calls a "new generation Web3 financial services ecosystem" .

Liang's academic credentials include a bachelor's degree in genetic engineering from Fudan University, an MBA from Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business, and a Global Finance DBA from Arizona State University . His investment experience spans traditional finance and emerging technologies, making him well-positioned to guide Yunfeng's technological transformation.

The executive currently holds multiple board positions, including independent non-executive director at ZA Online Fintech, which trades as 2271.HK, and serves on Singapore Management University's School of Computing and Information Systems advisory committee . He also participates in Singapore's business community as a seventh-term board member of Business China Singapore.

Yunfeng Financial operates across insurance, securities brokerage, asset management and fintech through subsidiaries holding Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission licenses for dealing, advising and asset management activities . The group also maintains long-term insurance licenses and mandatory provident fund trustee qualifications through its controlled entity MassMutual Asia.

The company's Web3 ambitions have drawn attention in Hong Kong's push to become a virtual asset hub. Yunfeng plans to classify its ether holdings as investment assets and explore real-world asset tokenization opportunities . The strategy reflects broader institutional adoption of crypto treasuries, with Yunfeng joining companies like MicroStrategy in allocating corporate funds to digital assets.
