SEC Moves to Dismiss Lawsuit Against Binance
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is seeking to drop its lawsuit against Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange. Lawyers for the SEC, Binance, and former CEO Changpeng Zhao filed a joint stipulation in federal court on Thursday.
In 2023, the SEC accused Binance of operating unregistered securities exchanges and misrepresenting trading controls. Later that year, Binance and Zhao admitted to violating the Bank Secrecy Act, agreeing to pay over $4 billion to settle a DOJ probe.
Under new SEC Chair Paul Atkins, the agency has recently dismissed cases against crypto firms like Coinbase, Uniswap, and OpenSea. The SEC clarified that this dismissal does not reflect its stance on other litigation.

BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes stated at the Bitcoin 2025 conference that Ethereum's price could reach $4,000-$5,000 this year. OpenSea Officially Launches OS2, Plans SEA Token Airdrop
OpenSea has officially launched OpenSea2 (OS2) to the public and revealed plans for an upcoming airdrop of its native SEA token. The revamped platform now supports token transactions across 19 blockchains, reflecting OpenSea’s broader strategy to expand beyond NFTs and further into the wider crypto ecosystem.
OpenSea co-founder and CEO Devin Finzer said that OS2 lays the groundwork for the next generation of the OpenSea platform. As part of this upgrade, the company launched a new rewards program called “Voyages”, allowing users to earn XP points by completing basic tasks. These points will later be redeemable for the highly anticipated airdrop of OpenSea’s native SEA token.
In a blog post, Chief Marketing Officer Adam Hollander noted in his blog that the SEA token generation event (TGE) will take place only after a series of product rollouts are completed. The exact launch date for the token has not yet been determined.

SOL Strategies Files Preliminary Prospectus for $1 Billion Infrastructure Offering
Canadian publicly listed company SOL Strategies has submitted a preliminary short-form prospectus to securities regulators across Canadian provinces and territories. The filing seeks to raise up to $1 billion USD over the next two years through the issuance of common shares, warrants, and other securities.
Once the prospectus receives final approval, the company will be authorized to issue common shares (including “at-the-market” offerings), warrants, subscription receipts, units, debt securities, or any combination thereof. CEO Leah Wald stated that this move will enhance the company’s flexibility to seize investment opportunities within the Solana ecosystem. At present, SOL Strategies has no immediate plans to issue securities under this prospectus.
