Ant Digital's Jovay Releases Official Whitepaper

Ant Digital Technologies has released the official whitepaper for Jovay, an Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain targeting 100,000 TPS for real-world asset tokenization.

Ant Digital Technologies, a subsidiary of Alibaba's fintech arm Ant Group, has published the official whitepaper for Jovay, its Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain solution designed specifically for real-world asset (RWA) tokenization. The Singapore-based company positions Jovay as a high-performance network that aims to bridge traditional finance with decentralized infrastructure through advanced blockchain technology.

The whitepaper outlines Jovay's technical architecture, which employs a hybrid proof system combining Trusted Execution Environments (TEE) and Zero-Knowledge proofs to achieve both scalability and security. The network targets an ambitious throughput of 100,000 transactions per second while maintaining ultra-low fees, addressing key limitations that have hindered blockchain adoption in traditional finance.

Jovay's core focus centers on seamlessly integrating real-world assets with on-chain intelligence and artificial intelligence. The platform implements a fully pipelined parallel execution engine that decomposes transactions into discrete units for concurrent processing at transaction, block, and batch levels. Current testnet configurations demonstrate single-node Layer 2 throughput of 15,700-22,000 TPS under targeted workloads, with plans to scale to the 100,000 TPS target through node clustering and horizontal expansion.

The company has developed a modular architecture that decouples execution, proof services, data availability, and settlement functions. This design enables independent scaling and optimized resource allocation across different network components. The security model uses a phased approach, initially deploying TEE-based proofs for fast finality before transitioning to cryptographically stronger Zero-Knowledge proofs.

Ant Digital announced Jovay in April 2024 as a "completely self-developed" Layer 2 public blockchain that does not issue cryptocurrencies, focusing instead on institutional and enterprise use cases. The platform has formed partnerships with regulated financial institutions, including Hong Kong-based OSL, to drive institutional adoption of tokenized real-world assets.

The whitepaper details Jovay's five-phase RWA lifecycle model covering asset onboarding, preparation, tokenization, primary issuance, and secondary market trading. The platform supports diverse asset types including renewable energy infrastructure, bonds, and other traditional financial instruments through its trusted chain architecture.
