Interchain Labs Rebrands as Cosmos Labs to Strengthen Blockchain Ecosystem Focus

Interchain Labs announced its rebranding to Cosmos Labs, signaling a strategic shift to align more closely with the Cosmos blockchain ecosystem it develops and maintains. The company said the change reflects its current identity as the core team driving development and growth of Cosmos technology.

Cosmos Labs is a subsidiary of the Interchain Foundation and operates the largest network of Layer 1 blockchains globally, with over 200 blockchains using the Cosmos Stack in production. The Inter-Blockchain Communication protocol network processes an average monthly volume exceeding $1 billion from participating chains, making it the largest non-incentivized bridge in the blockchain industry.

The rebranding follows the Interchain Foundation's acquisition of Skip Protocol in late 2024, which was initially renamed Interchain Labs before the latest change. The Foundation said the ecosystem needed a major shift to remain competitive in an increasingly crowded blockchain market.

Cosmos Labs has delivered several key developments in 2025, including shipping IBC V2 and launching IBC Eureka on the Cosmos Hub, which provides Cosmos chains access to Ethereum at reduced costs. The company released Cosmos SDK v0.53 with no breaking changes and established a partnership with Neutron to create a sustainable home for CosmWasm development. 

The team also developed and launched Cosmos EVM, which has been adopted by more than 10 chains, and removed technical debt from the Cosmos Hub by moving it back to the main Cosmos SDK line.

Cosmos pioneered the concept of purpose-built blockchains customized for specific use cases. The company said the rebrand reinforces its commitment to this vision as more global commerce moves on-chain through customizable, connected blockchain networks.

The rebrand affects organizational communications, with Cosmos Labs handling ecosystem and technology stack updates while the Interchain Foundation continues managing governance, treasury, and foundation matters. Skip:Go, the former Skip Protocol's flagship cross-chain API product, is now integrated into the Cosmos Stack.
